Nice Collective no longer sold online?

verb

Recommended Posts

I always loved the complex detail involved in every Nice Collective piece and have been lucky enough to have a store open up a few blocks from my house that stocks it now, but I was trying to show a friend the shirt I was looking at today and have been unable to find anything online. They stopped updating their website after A/W 05 and the two major online retailers that I know of (Factory People and 20six15) have pulled their shit.

Nice Collective is no longer available online at the request of the designers, please contact our personal shopping assistant with any Nice Collective requests. Contact (phone/email goes here)

Anyone know what happened? I'm kinda curious, just because it seems like an odd move in today's 'connected' world.

Maybe they want their brand to be more exclusive?

Nice Collective to me is like a dime a dozen now. Maybe because I own alot of pieces from them.

I guess, but if they want to be more exclusive why would they sell to a piece of shit shop in the middle of nowhere in Indiana? I'm confused :(

Online and B&M distribution are 2 different things. Because of the relatively low pricepoint of NC, and because it sells to stores across a broad range of different types of stores (from Louis Boston until very recently to some rather dubious streetwear stores), unlike, say Rag&Bone, which keeps it's accounts reasonably exclusive, it has work hard at keeping it's online presence coherent with its brand identity. So it seems that they've limited any online distribuition to only marquee stores which sell only brands (online and most likely otherwise) that they would want the NC brand associated with. Steven Alan sells some of their stuff, and I think that Barneys does as well.

APC is probably the strictest brand this way.

I'm pretty sure Barney's Co-Op carries every single Nice Collective piece this season.
