no doubt, a lot of the stuff is killer. but can anyone give me a short history of it? some seems way too techno for my tastes too.

why futura art, how did that develop?

DJ Shadow teamed up with James Lavelle circa 97, worked with various artists spanning the different "important" genres of music at the time.

(Thom Yorke, Badly Drawn Boy, the dude from Verve, even the legendary Kool G Rap)

result was slept on, just happens that Lavelle, Shadow etc. always had been friends with/fans of Nigo (BAPE) and they did some singles with him too (See "Ape [Nigo] Sounds" feat. the Biz, Rakim, and I think Gza). Futura had been down with the same camp. These cliques always seem larger than they are but it's all a pretty small scene actually.

See the Futura Book for more on this.

ABELnyc pretty sum it up... but here's an almost new collabo with unkle.

check if you havent... http://www.btinternet.com/~nsinbath/surrender.htm

been to the store pretty cool but almost like the LABINAH store in HK.

good tees are all wrapped by headz and resellers and double $ on the bay. freakin' ass.

as for his prod. the best album, my opinion, PSYENCE FICTION.

eversince dj shadow left, the productions are a bit monotonous.

ABELnyc you illin' futura's stuff?

James actually started UNKLE with Tim Goldworthy...they dropped some early singles most notably on the first Headz compilation...Tim jumped ship shortly after and James enlisted Shadow to produce an album...in my opinion, the best track UNKLE ever produced wasn't even on an album...Be There feat. Ian Brown...

James had always been a big fan of Futura, and had him do some work for album covers on early mo'wax releases...will bankhead i believe brought about the hook up...

if you like unkle check out their scratch perverts remix of psyence fiction - its pretty dope.. and as far as shadow leaving unkle, i actually like never never land better cuz i think its more trip hoppy. i think richard file and massive attacks 3D put on a better show then shadow. besides if i wanted shadow i'll put on entroducing.

oh yeah the dunkle is one of the coolest dunks ever in opinion
