Alden's classic Indy Boot made from the super thick and strong kudu leather which has gone through Horween's famous Chromexcel leather treatment; a long and laborious process of impregnating the leather with oils and waxes to create something nearly indestructible. The resulting color is a very deep brown which gets hints of a lighter shade when the leather is stressed.

Between the rich oiled leather and thick treaded commando sole, these end up being the perfect boot for winter or whatever you put your shoes through.

I've had these I think for two years. Purchased to act as a true winter boot and a protective something for trekking into the unknown. Spending the past two winters in Seattle, they didn't end up seeing that much truly foul weather, but they did get their fair share of wear. The leather is still in perfect (although dirty in the photos) condition and, despite nicks here and there, the leather still has another few lifetimes left.

Size is an 8 (I believe on the Barry Last, for people familiar with Alden) but they fit rather large. I would say it would be good for a 42. I am typically a 10.5/43, usually 9.5 in Alden, and these are a bit snug on me.
