Perhaps the rarest Union Special known to exist...

This is the almost unheard of 43800 ( double needle 43200). This model appears to be a pre-production prototype, it is marked on the build plate as a 43200 FZ, but on the casting it is stamped 43800 and many of the internal parts bear 43800 part numbers.

This machine is an unbelievable find. Those of you who know about the 43200 Edge Lock and the 43200 G know that in the 43000 series manual the 43800 is listed in that manual as one of the work-wear family of machines.

This machine is in great mechanical condition and sews wonderfully. This machine as noted above was initially intended to hem pockets; that being said it could also be used to hem the bottom of jeans, it would require the commission of a custom folder, available from Atlanta Attachments or NY Sewing Attachments and the removal of the bed plate. It can also be run in a single needle configuration by removing one needle.

This is likely the only chance you will ever get to own this machine; it is rarer than the impossible to find 43800 as it appears to be a pre-production model. It could also be an investment piece as there is a cult like following for the 43000 series of machines and this is one that even a museum may like to have.

This machine has lived in the US and was not purchased from a Thai sweatshop like many of the 43200 machines that are currently available.
