Custom sneakers?

Some time ago I won these shoes at an auction.

I just got them today and upon closer inspection it looks like the paint will chip and/or flake and rub off when the leather creases. I obviously don't want this to happen. Does anyone know a good way to prevent this from happening? I read some on ISSforums but didnt find anything really specific (maybe I just suck at searching). I was thinking about spraying them with waterproofer and maybe a coating of clear nail-polish. Good or bad idea?

Well, the first mistake was buying the shoes

But seriously, waterproofer may help a little.....are you going to wear those? I definitely would not paint them with nail polish. Unfortunately, if they were painted using shitty paint, all the waterproofer in the world won't stop the cracking in the toe creases, sole, etc.

Yeah I'm probably going to wear them sometimes. The paint looks pretty shitty. But then again I got them for less for 50$, so it wont be the end of the world if they dont last for too long.

You could try using hairspray...or suede/leather protector...works for me on paintings...might have to reapply every so often
