L.L. Bean Shearling-Lined Boots (tagged 10, but fit like 10.5-11)

Bought these boots online in November, but decided they’re more than I need. I’ve worn them a bit this winter, but they’re in great condition. (Just a bit of wear on the insole, and minor scratches on the leather.) The shearling lining is oh so soft and cozy! No OG box.

How did the Flat Heads get to such a small waist measurement? I thought with shrinkage and stretching combined, they were still supposed to end up measuring about an inch more than the listed size. Is it normal for Flat Heads to shrink so much in the waist?
