i have a lot of friends there so i went there a couple time. i have to admit that i've never really shopped, but i don't think you could find so much stuff there. try Rue Ste-Catherine (it's the big pedestrian street where all the shops are) but you won't find any gems there. apart for surfwear, there isn't much. as for food, well you'll be in France so there's no way you can't be satisfied. try the old part of town for really nice restaurant. for drinks, go to Les Quais or La Victoire, it's where all the bars and clubs are. if you have to chance, you should visit Archachon, it's this little town next to the ocean that has a huge sand dune (it sounds boring like this, but it's really impressive, i would advise to visit there if you have a chance)
