thoughts on spiewak jackets

how do they size up compared to other stuff?

i normally wear a medium in north face jackets for an example of my sizing

are they made well?

Depends on the model, but for the most part, sizing is normal; good quality for the price. Afterall, they are in the uniform business and have been around for quite some time.

I have a lightweight Spiewak jacket, a snorkel and a winter car coat. They are made pretty well and fairly simple. I like them.

yeah, it really depends on the model. i used to have two lightweight jackets from them and their small was a cross between adidas xs and s. this is for mens sizes at least.

IMO, their stuff is slightly bigger than labeled.

For example, my coat is a Large, but fits a little bigger. Not quite XL, but bigger than a Large.

Quality is top notch though.

Arent most coats slightly oversized to allow you to wear sweaters and such underneath them?

All i can think of when i hear the word is how big they were with the ravers in florida when that shit was taking off, and how the kids in highschool when i was a senior used to get them cause they had little velcro things in the hood for headphones.

yea, spiewak is quality. id say (at least regarding the one coat i own) that they run about a half size smaller than average.

i've had this snorkel/wool jacket since highschool still looks awsome.

I have a down vest and i am very happy with every aspect of it. The details are perfect, and it feels great

sizing i would say is a little on the small side

jackets are nice and very light...fits kinda small IMO, maybe its just the particular one that i have

where are they made?

I just looked at the label on an old piece I have and it just says "made in USA".

I picked up a Spiewak produced mil-spec Gore Tex US ECWCS parka as surplus once upon a time that was INCREDIBLE. But then someone nicked it at a rave.

IMO on the fashion side Spiewak produce pretty generic no frills streetwear. It's excellent value for money stuff that whups anything people like Alpha Industries put out. I kind of see them as a forerunner to brands like Engineered Garments.
