ALSO KNOWN AS x NIKEiD

Charity Auction, May 10th May 17th, 2006

Inspired by vintage spray paint colors as featured in ALSO KNOWN AS v1, this collection of seven patent leather Nike Dunk LoÂfs was created by NIKEiD exclusively for ALSO KNOWN AS.

Starting May 10th at 7pm EST, the collection will be auctioned to the highest bidder, with all proceeds going to the Free Arts NYC, a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing the healing powers of the arts into the lives of abused, neglected and at-risk children and their families.

This collection is one of only five sets produced and will not be available at retail. Each shoe is US size 9 and will be exhibited at Alife Rivington Club from May 8th through May 17th, when the auction will conclude.

The highest bidder will win this exclusive collection along with all three colorways of ALSO KNOWN AS v1 [including the rare gold foil cover version limited to 250 copies worldwide] personally signed by contributing artists KAWS, FUTURA and REAS.

We've previously seen a few different pictures of the pink patents included in this pack and now here's a look at the full "Wet-Look" Pack. The AKA (Wet-Looks) are a set of seven different colorways that originated from the wet look spread in the AKA v.1 book. There was only two sets of full colorways produced. One set is going to be on display at Alife NYC in the next couple days, the second set will be auctioned off through e-bay with the benfits being donated to charity.

it's definately not a record yet, 1500 a pair isnt that ridiculously outlandish yet, at least considering that theyre dunks and people willingly pay that for stuff like pigeons and paris' with hundreds of pairs made

it's still mad loot though

this is my signature

Quote: i tried to get some fools together to compile bank and split the shoes but, even together we cae up short like tattoo.

time to rob and steeeeeeel. future troubles.

That would be the stupidest mistake you have ever made..I can guarantee you the said bidder is a celeb/rapper who is going to make it public after they win, thus gaining more "sneaker head" respect whilst seeming philanthropic at the same time.......These shoes will have NO resale value over $500 a shoe......you could essentially make them on Nike ID at one point and can certainly make them in the ID studio. People waist $1000s on a shoe like the Pigeons/Paris because they are easily distinguishable.....no one will know what the fuck these are in six months.

There was never a way to make a full patent leather dunk on Nike ID (I probably ordered 3 pairs around the holidays), and definitely not all the same color like that. Your right about the color options, but I'm guessing that isn't a coincidence. One of my mates had an appointment at the ID studio in New York and he says they also didn't have a way to do these there, because he did end up doing a Nike Dunk.

Who knows what people would pay on a resale, cause I bet nobody would have guessed this either. Anybody know if any pairs of the Also Known As AF1's ended up on Ebay and how much those went for? Personally, I'd get them if I could afford it. I love Nike's that don't say Nike on the back kinda like the Buck's. Regardless if these are ID's their still more rare then the pigeons if there's only one set for sale. The signed Also Known As book would be a nice score on top of everything else.

I guess I ust of misunderstood things but I thought this was being sold as a piece of artwork, I didn't think the idea was to wear the shoes, just display them...

Good point. Though I'd have to at least try them on. Even if it's only to wear for a few minutes inside the house.

if you've seen the book, the concept makes sense and its reference will make any bencher drool. they are all colors from the wet looks paint featured in one of the sections. i definitely see this as more of an artisitc concept taking the OG flavor of vintage sprays and bringing them into the limelight in today's popular medium.

if someone wears them or breaks up the set, they're probably not getting it. then again, if you drop that kind of coin on some shoes, i'm sure you'll do as you please.

Via Hypebeast:

Quote: The Also Known As x Nike iD ‘Wet Paint’ pack Dunk auction has just ended. Congratulations to the winner, risingsun1940, for bidding and helping a good cause. The final price was $14,900 dollars which makes it $2128.57 for each Dunk. I foresee many other auctions like this in the future because charity is always a good thing.

ahah ha...the dude who won has 4 feedback; 2 of them are negative and state that he never pays.....duh, I wonder if he is going to pay for this? I bet you half of the total bidders were fuckwads with no intention of paying. I can't wait to see them give the second chance offer to the only legit bidder for $1500 total...
