i picked up s5000vx, after i soaked them air dry for a bit and tossed in dryer, they only shrank a inch on the waist. the inseam about inch and 1/2. the feel of these are much differnent wiht sawtooth type weaving,rough to the touch.i dont know how much they will stretch this is my first experience with 17 ounce,but i think you can sizew down on these. the front is 10" the back is 13 on the rise.i beleive sd-103s is 12.5? the hem is about .5 cm more than sd-103s, its pretty identical.

what size did you get the s5000vx's and what size did you get you 103's in? Do you wear the Samurai's higher?

i got the 103s in 32,and i cold soaked them and they shrunk 2 inches to a 30 on the waist.i got the vx in 32,it came in a size higher so 33 thinking they will shrink 2,and only shrunk 1 inch,so its a 32.

the sawtooth type weaving probably has something to do wiht them. again,i dont know, how this type of weaving will stretch compared to like other denims. ill check later on about that..

these sits about the same as 103s on the waist. i wear them normal on the waist.

anyone on this board have the vx? i thought someone else ordered one before..

thanks for the pics. the rise doesn't look high, maybe just 1-2cm higher than 103's.

funny thing is I asked Samurai for measurements and according to them the S0505XX's actually have a 1cm higher back and front rise than the 5000's!? wtf.. I think the 505's are low rise already.

They guy on Bears wears a sz 32 103 and sz 30 s5000 so I don't know what to think.

well i measured my 103s and the vx and those are the measurements i got. the one i mentioned earlier on this post. as you can se on the front rise is about same as 103's .5 cm difference.

also, if the guy from bears wear a 30 in s5000 and 32 in 103s, he probably did not cold soaked the 103s because if he did it will be a 30. because the vx comes a size bigger anyways,so 30 would be like around 31.5 or sometihng about close to 32.

i'm not so sure - he says they measure 32'" in the waist after shrinkage (cold soak) and are marked 32 but that he hoped they would shrink to 31"

Yeah that totally sucks, and that's the risk of ordering without trying on.

I've had to sell a couple of jeans because of that. That's also the reason why I would rather size down than order true to size.

yeah,i wanted it to shrink down to a 30.so i can stretch it out. i did some lose weight also which added to the burden.. =)

yeah, definitely try a warm soak if they aren't much too big.

talked to samurai again, their 505s are higher rise than the S5000vx and are a 66model, which I thought the S5000VX's also were, but apparently aren't.

She still suggested that I sized down from the 505's, which I'm going to do.

greentea, did you ask Samurai if they could hem your new jeans?
