I have seen it albeit quite a while ago so don't really remember it.. we preferred Freeguy.. it's got more eye candy... sexy Ryan Reynolds for the mums and ..err.. sexy Ryan Reynolds for the dads  plus Digital Underground on the soundtrack!

I suppose the depressing part is.. folks lives suck which is why they want to pretend their projected lives in fairytale instagram-land are actually real.

Will have to check out Freeguy sometime.

I guess with Instagram l keep it low key : under 500 followers, l only follow friends and Japanese vintage denim collectors (which gives access to real images - often filtered but usually to enhance them for display) which is a godsend. I dont use my real name (Dr_Heech obvs) and of course don't reveal any personal details. And as this seems to be the last place with any life outside of fake worlds that frequent the web, and like most it won't last forever, l don't mind scrolling through some tedious shite for 5 minutes a day, 3 or 4 times a day just to get my kick. There's just nowhere else to top up my vintage denim addiction needs :)

I think it was @smoothsailor who went into Desolation Row and they asked if he knew me … I’m so famous I don’t even need to be in the shop

Wow Duke, that's a good claim to fame. Maybe the belt he was wearing looked like one of your quality offerings? The best l can do in that category was the time (around 2009/10) that l went to Cinch in London and was mistaken for Paul T (?) - I was wearing SugarCanes and a vintage M422a, the uniform of the denimhead at the time so presumably that was the reason.

  3. LVC x Aeroleather 1940's 'Beat brown', sz XL, made in 2005.

This is one of the best fitting leather jackets that l've owned, albeit the leather itself isn't anything special imo and the 'finish' is similar to the above posts by @merzbot and @chicote - but l can tolerate these minor issues as fit is king (there's a pic of me wearing it in the waywt thread). And as the weather is half decent l thought l'd take some pics.

This jacket cost me around £250 NWOT back in 2010 (Originally £500) and l wear it fairly regularly as it has both windproof and waterproof qualities. The buttons haven't come off yet which is a bonus, but l guess that's because it was made by Aeroleather of Scotland rather than in an lvc factory. Lovely buttons made to look like horn and the knits are still like new. Leather was described as Capeskin.

I think you’re missing something. That copy belongs to @AnOldFolkSong

Yes mate, sorry having a senior moment.

Yes the book is good imo, insomuch as it's a more or less an objective look at the workings/history of Levis Strauss and the factory evolution etc and as far as l have read (up to 1972), has happily filled in a few gaps of info for me. Cheap as chips too - under a tenner. And all in english which is a bonus :)

  5. I'm sure there was another denim books/magazines thread, one that had more pages/more contributions?

Well anyway here's my little lot, mostly Levis/vintage denim related but a couple of flight jacket books too ( l also have the John Chapman flight jacket CD). Feel free to ask away if there's anything you want to see more of - FYI the top one is The researchers guide to the 501XX (all in Japanese) and the third one down is 501XX - The evolution of the jean, which was a freebie when you purchased a pair of lvc back in 2009/2010.

Edit: I've added another pic - a top shot showing the front covers.

  6. I love the 47 cut. Tried mine on yesterday - they were too snug last year :blush2: - and was instantly reminded why l love them. Along with my Bootleggers 47's and SC47's, they have the drape (and a kind of atmosphere) which really reminds me of the few old pairs l once owned and wore. And just the right amount of nep.

The only logical explanation is convenience culture.. folks with cash are prepared to pay well over the odds for someone else to take care of what they perceive as hassle.. peeps buy sliced mushrooms for £1.29 even though regular unsliced mushrooms are only £1 a pineapple is 79p but a plastic tub of pre-chopped pineapple is £1.85.. and don’t get me started carrot sticks... lazy fucks!

    ..

Totally agree. And dont even get me started on pre-packed grated cheese wtf.

I'll have to get a pic of my pair, although l think they're heavily creased, which is what happens when there all folded up and lying on top of one another in a drawer or suitcase. May have to buy a metal rail or something similar.

    Commission b_F to build you a denim-shrine

After looking about on the web and seeing the crazy prices for a decent metal one, l've decided to build my own with whatever l can find to hand.

Will post up the results when l get it done.

Can someone help me find these jeans without the massive mark-up?

    https://sonofastag.com/en-us/products/warehouse-1001xx-original-13-75oz-regular-straight-jean-raw?variant=44240399892784

As much as I love Son of a Stag - being based in the US makes it a little more expensive than I'm willing to go for.

    Thanks!

     Soas prices are legendary!

Most peeps look around Soas and find what they want, get the sizing/product info they want and then shop around the web for the cheapest price.

I've only ever used them for their hemming service.
