SUPERDENIM SMALL QUESTIONS THREAD (Use instead of making new threads)
Dr_Heech replied to minya's topic in superdenim
Baggy is in apparently, Heech junior is either rocking my old FW47'S that are four sizes too big or a pair of 80s Carhartt carpenter/painter pants, and like you said, all pulled in with the belt. He's got all my 'old vintage' tees and tops too, mostly TKmaxx finds some fifteen years old now and my old Denimbruin tee l got from Mr Randall. Good to see stuff still being reused . -

Well remembered Neal, l am impressed. Yeah still going strong, they are my Roy OG's from 2010. Funnily enough my son recently wore them to cart a load of paving slabs, hollow block and hard-core round from next doors, as they're moving and this stuff was excess to his requirements. The red crossover stitch was to match the Roy chainstitch signature on the inside front pocket 😁 -

My Mrs did this for me on my vintage Bluebell Wrangler jacket. Still holding up well after 6 years or so. -
Why don't you wear that lush rust colour FW flight jacket. Never see you in a fit pic with it 🙂
-
Funnily enough Chevy Chase appeared in a music video by Paul Simon back in the 80's, the name l think was 'You can Call me AL'. I was a big fan of Chevy Chase films back in the day.

Thanks. I don't mind his wartime S501XX type repros but his buckleback models aren't as well researched imo. Also what love about Warehouse in particular is that you can unpick the arcs so they can look more like true repros.
-
Thanks, just as l thought. I already have this model though, albeit @beautiful_FrEaK's old Csf pair.
-
Seconded! @CharlieMike Is the 41 DSB the same as the supposedly Hinoya exclusive 1941 model do you know denim-wise? And l take it the 1942 is a WW2 model and not the 1942 buckleback? Cheers

^ 🤣 Yeah Neal, get in that rocking chair and start singing "tie a yellow ribbon round the old oak tree..."

^nodding my head in agreement *head nodding emoji* -
This is my experience also (l have both models in size XL) - but l do wish they had made the set in sleeve model neck width a tad bigger, similar to the size of the freedom sleeve.

^Beautiful spot

Surprised Maynard hasn't made anything out of this yet 😉 Nice catch Neal. Reminds me of when l was a kid (11 or so) when my dad brought a poachers rod back from the States - basically a 1970's extendable rod, something you couldn't get here at the time - and we used to hang above the bridge in the nearby village just hooking brown trout mostly with ease before the old gamekeeper attempted to stop us. After a quick getaway we would get home and mum would roll her eyes at us before cooking them up. Yum.

Yes l love both items regardless (freewheelers 1942 tux) and can talk about it now without further trauma. I like you should have probably thought abit more about the tax side of things but held it to chance. This sort of thing used to happen regularly back in the early 2000's especially when buying second hand heavy flight jackets for example. I think every third purchase got held at Parcelfarce's Gloucester depot with a whopping fee to pay before release. They've got you over a barrel in these circumstances so what's a guy to do?
-
@UkeNo if it makes you feel any better, this happened with my last (and possibly final) denim purchases from japan last year. I asked for the insurance to be covering my purchases (£510) but didn't expect the tax to be so high. Ended up paying a whopping £178 extra in tax and duties. It still stings a bit when l think about it but l guess it's God's way of saying "enough denim!" 😂

Yes @CSL happy 60th Carl. Hope you have a blast! (I'll be with you in 3 years- yikes)

Nice black/yellow waist chain stitching on those. You copping?

Love the buttons and rivets on those 209 overalls @airfrogusmc Very authentic looking. What year were those 209 overalls released?
-
Nice to see you posting again @airfrogusmc looking forward to your pics mate. I still have and occasionally wear: 1955 501XX (555) - well worn 1955 501XX (554) - kept for 'best' 1963 551ZXX (555) - started to wear again recently Also have the 1880s XX (denim pockets) from 2007 but they are just a toy really. On the few occasions l've briefly worn them the sewn on buttons have come off. This happened years ago with my 1st issue 1873 duck pants so it's just part of the lvc journey l guess. I also have the 1880s Triple pleated blouse which l now don't wear. I also have two pairs of raws, 1937 501XX (643M) and 1920s 201 (555). The only two Cone denim models are the 554 55's and the 37's. I'm more in favour of wearing Japanese brands now, like Freewheelers and Warehouse but still love my older lvc wearers; they just remind me of where all this repro business started.
-
Hmm yes, 'winky face' indeed. Nice to read but disappointing in the detail as usual. For example "Even the poorly done stitching on the waist belt is identical to the original". Looking at the two photos above that statement, it clearly isn't identical. The stitching in some of the other pics are different colours on the og compared to the lighter yellow of the repro. And l wish Sugarcane would take the flasher and ticket off for photo comparisons, as it blocks the view of the rear top block. Anyway I'm happy with my FW 1942'S 🙂

Merry Chrimbo everyone, Let the festivities begin ! -
I was a person with some foresight back then, as l 'discovered' vintage 501's in 1986. Unfortunately l was a skint student and by the time l had some money to go with the knowledge, by say 1989, the sizes weren't there anymore or had out of reach price tags on them. This is from a UK perspective only though
