    Green Giant? 😂
  3. @indigoeagle here is a YouTube video of the forthcoming SC42 model and they discuss the differences between the Levi's 37, 41 and 42 models.
  4. Video showing Levis 1942 deadstock model vs 1937 and 1941 models! It also showcases a prototype for the forthcoming Sugarcane 1942 release.
  5. Thanks mate. Yeah figured it would be out of my league. Just curious to how 'good' the content actually is after all the hype-dust has settled.
  6. Saw this Stay Brave book around Instagram recently. A collection of vintage 501XX by Tsuyoshi Kusanagi. Basically l am curious to know the contents of the book, especially the 1922 501XX collection. I want to know how good/detailed the images are, also with the possibility of it being dual language (Japanese/English) - again just going by the pics. I'm just interested in any more intel on this publication so just putting it out there as l'm not the most internet-ready person but there are peeps with skills here which may help?? Thanks in advance
  7. Sounds feasible. I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to 501's made before 1900.
  8. Actually there are two similar pairs in the 501XX book #1 and #51 and pair #1 have a similar gusset type crotch, albeit a single line of stitching rather than the two rows of stitching along the centre line from crotch to waistband at rear.
  9. Here are some nicer images of the $240k 1890's recently discussed in the other thread, before they disappear into some museum. These courtesy of mushroom vintage. 2 notable things for me. The close up of the crotch construction with what looks like a gusset(?) type thing going on - where's @Sansome1877 when you need him? Secondly, is that a pair of og canvas one pocket duck pants in the first shot? Guy must have spent a fortune.
  10. And the riveted 'squares' - for want of a better word, are facing downward/wonky. Otherwise look legit(?)
  11. 42's looking good @Broark You could even get a bit of a cuffing in there if you wanted.
  12. Yeah saw that - a pair of c.1890's in fairly good condition l believe. Crazy money.
  13. I'm still using two pairs of specsavers prescription glasses that l bought in 2004, even have the original cases. Think the deal was buy two pairs for 120 quid, so l got one pair clear and one pair of sunglasses. Quality.
  14. @smoothsailor bit of drum and bass l'm imagining?
  15. Oh good question. I think when l've tried sewing tabs in to jeans many moons ago (actually twice in all) l ruined the tabs and the og levis pockets in the process so never tried it since. Luckily my Mrs has done a few tab sewing operations and made a better job but they're not perfect. You can always see the join of the thread (alot of that was to do with the thread that was available at the time) I guess that and the fact that l sometimes just don't want a tab, for example l haven't bought any tabbed jeans since my conners several year's ago (2020?) opting for the pre tab 1920s models instead ( the FW1942'S being the exception). But l've stayed away from temptation with the Sugarcane stuff as l don't have any real disposable income atm and don't want mentally to start investing in yet more repro denim (let alone customisation) as l have enough atm if not more than enough jeans. I have 12 pairs l wear regularly which, apart from one pair, all have arcs. And all my post 1936 repros have tabs. Then l have the 42's on ice. Plus l don't wear jeans as often as I used to so .. I guess there isn't a mental block but more of a liberating sensation when my nerdy denim ocd is sated, which it is atm . And also because l was able to say No to more denim and avoided the rabbit holes. So feeling good with what l have and less consumerist. Plus if l'm gonna put down 250-300 quid plus on a pair of Levi's 501XX repros, l want the tab and arcs included in the price. So basically l'm a fussy bugger who's who's got enough jeans who is also a denim snob 🤫
  16. Makes sense @indigoeagle And although l'm enjoying the stuff Sugarcane are releasing and looking forward to more (as I love their approach atm) for me to get fully committed to purchasing another pair of repros in the future, they would have to be fully replicated (well at least a nice tab ala Freewheelers, the arcs l can send off to get done) so l'm just munching on my popcorn as usual.
  17. Lovely pic of the earliest readable vintage Levis 506 jacket patch. It's a clearer image from the unwashed 1927 first pocket flapped 506xx that l posted some pages back. It is rare insomuch as it has Copper Riveted and 'Size' 36 meaning it was used exclusively for jackets. This label is thought to be used until c.1936 when levis started to use the same Two horse patch that was used on 501's at the time to use on jackets also, which is what we're usually used to seeing on a 506.
  18. Actually it could even be a pair of deadstock 37's- they often have their tab placement high, near the hidden rivet area. Ohh speculation speculation 😃
  19. Those two pairs of 42's with the flasher and guarantee ticket shown lying next to each other must be the two pairs he said were 'the only two pairs in the world' (?) So l'm guessing the other pair must be Larry's from Hellers Cafe which are also a 34x34 (the one's l posted in the vintage thread from King of vintage Vol. 4). If not then there are three pairs with flasher and ticket at least, or maybe when he said 'world' he meant Japan?
  20. The jacket looks like someone went a bit mad with the silly string 😅
  21. I've often thought what would happen if you came back after a few drinks from a cracking night out, got the vintage denim collection out all over the floor and decided to do a bath tub soak with your 100k Nos 42's 😁 Wake up hungover next morning with just a crumpled guarantee ticket and pocket flasher, wondering why you're wearing wet jeans to bed.
  22. @indigoeagle l doubt Sugarcane want to focus on the arcs (or tabs) as they are not featured as part of replication. I can confirm that the the pre-restriction 1942 501XX has single needle arcs, and the WW2 model has none due to the printed one's being washed away.
  23. For the guys Stateside l can empathise to a point as lve been fortunate enough to spend time there, albeit 70's until late 90's so not necessarily relevant today, but the vastness of the country plus the size of the other vehicles on the road would certainly have pushed me to buy something safer (and probably bigger) than the ford focus l drive here ( think it was called the Taurus?) but the other crucial thing is that there was still a massive gap between the smaller Japanese and European vehicles and the 'smaller' vehicles produced in the US. I remember that spectrum of small cars available back then in the UK dwarfed the so called small cars available in the US and imo it hasn't changed a great deal. As an aside @Double 0 Soul here's my addition to really cheap motoring, the fun years of my 20's mostly driving these. They were cheap to buy, bought my first 2CV for 40 quid and my forth for 200. Great fun to drive, a convertible that also had removable seats for picnicking, crazy leaning into corners and ran on lemonade! (..well 50-60 mpg in reality). (Lake district. Check out the case of Directors in the boot lol) One time when we all couldn't fit into the car l removed out all but the drivers seat, opened the roof and took seven people standing up through the roof, whilst drinking and smoking, 12 miles through back roads to a pub and back no bother. Looking back the cars were fun but the inevitability of death by driving in such circumstances with a car essentially made out of tin foil was not well thought through. Saying that, with my son now learning to drive l want something a little more substantial for him with the volume of traffic on the back roads compared to when l was a young'un. And let's not forget our chocked up motorways. Born again boy racer pic incoming... @julian-wolf this is the best l can do to match your 240/260(?) - a 1981Renault Fuego 1.7 GTX l owned in 1999. The thing was 250 quid with a years MOT and that's as long as it lasted due to excessive rust underneath. Both front seats were broken and didn't fold forward so it was a squeeze for peeps trying to access the rear seats. To me it was a poor man's Porsche 924 and went like a rocket! The only sports type car l will ever own. Here's the only pic of it and of note the jacket is a pre lvc type 2.
