Why it's called Denim

Many of you probably know this, but for those of you that don't here goes:

When Levi Strauss in the middle of the 19th century started to design jeans, he had actually come across the speciel jean fabric in Nîmes (France), so the fabric "came from Nîmes", or "de Nîmes" in French, thus the name Denim.

Fashion history right there.
