Hello dubdlx,

Thanx for the kind words and the valuable feedback

I didn't realise that about Cafepress.

I will look into a paypal shop, but the thing is cafepress will handle all the

printing and shipping, right?

If I build my own shop I must handle all the printing and shipping myself. I just shipped a Tee to the USA (http://www.wesweatyoushop.com) and the shipping costs were 5.50 euro! With those prices I can't sell a Tee for $19.99 (16 euro).

As this shop is part of a quest (about making money with no budget) I can't invest right away. But if I sold some tees via cafepress I definitly look into building a paypal shop.

btw 1: Great Tees you have there, but I already knew that. Saw your tees at one of my favorite shop over here in Amsterdam (Tom's skateshop)

btw 2: will add your blog to another website of mine (http://www.bldd.nl)

Grtz,

Keitai

you might want to check this out : http://www.giveneyestosee.com/say-no-to-cafepress/

Also some alternatives worth considering:

www.spreadshirt.com

www.spreadshirt.net (in German)

zazzle.com

Haven't tried these but I've heard they're better than CP

In the future you might want to get them printed yourself with a good deal and no outrageous orders (e.g 30 pieces) you should be able to get a price arround 8-10 euros per piece. For a nicely designed tee most people would be willing to pay arround 14-15 euros without the shipping costs.

AWESOME information you provided me here.

Got to admit I didn't read CP TOS.

many tx, I think I will try spreadshirt (.com & .net)

- Friendly website

- their TOS

Quote:

Spreadshirt does not have the right to sell Partners’ designs in its own shops, or in shops of third parties or other distribution channels without the express permission of the Partner.

- and paypal possibility

I am updating my findings here for future reference.

Again tx for the warning.

Will give you all the credits

dubdlx,

I think I must rectify your previous posts. just got an email from the founder of Cafepress and he said

Quote:

think you are mistaken with regards to our terms of service. Our terms of service explicitly say that the artists keeps all rights to their artwork and that they can close down their shop at any time.

Only time will tell.

Fortunatly they seem to be legit cause this product wasn't on spreadshirt:

Yep, we are expecting :)

Well I have nothing personal against cafepress but a lot of people are against it just google "cafepress sucks" and see what I mean. I guess they might have changed the TOS like other online companies (that have a tendency to change their TOS every now and then so you can never keep up with them). My major issue was quality and cafepress being associated with tacky, cheesy design which is undeniable since everyone can upload a print 99% of the designs suck (the same goes of course for spreadshirt etc.) I don't know perhaps you should open multiple stores and see which one works best for you!
