I picked up some gatsby hair wax in NYC at JAS mart, which is a chain of Japanese convenience stores throughout the city (they have locations at 34 E. 23rd St. (bet. Madison & ParkAves.), 2847 Broadway (bet. 110th &111thSts.), and 35 St. Marks Pl. (bet. 2nd & 3rd Aves.))

Great place, don't miss the onigiri in the morning (it's what got me through work this summer living on a student's budget)

sunrise also carries it, right next door to st marks bookstore, you go up an elevator to reach it.

i also use the mat type sometimes but its still a bit gunky for me...

I also get my Gatsby wax from JAS mart in Soho. YOu can also get them a block away in at the Sunrise Mart. I didn't know JAS had ongiris, I always get them at Sunrise. i might have to change now because I can't stand looking at the FAT girl that works at Sunrise with the caked on makeup.
