Wow! Another pointless victim in a pointless war on one of the oldest plants (containing non-toxic drugs) on earth. What a stupid fucking article. I feel for the poor guy.

I heard two guys in a cafe talking about it today. How it would destroy his image/reputation. Why?! What about if he got snapped smoking a joint? A cigarette? Chugging a beer? Just casually drinking a beer? I'm certainly not going to judge him any differently for this.

People are so quick to demonise those that dare to choose a drug that might be "illegal". It sucks that legal sanction can make some truly damaging drugs (ie alcohol) socially accetable.

Glad he got caught. hope nothing too bad happens to him, but the more public figures that get "caught" with this "drug," the greater exposure to it we are likely to face. And, hopefully, with greater exposure comes a greater revelation of truth. There's only so long that you can perpetuate a lie without looking like a complete fucking fool. I believe we are getting close to that point.

edit: Nevermind, fuck him. I just read the article. Dude's gotta make his dough, and I'm sure he had pressure from his sponsors to apologize or whatever, but it's still bogus. He gave up a perfect opportunity to stand up for himself and instead conceded to an apology for such "youthful and innappropriate" behavior. Lame.

Those who are praising marijuana are just as retarded as those who are against it. There are many fucked up things that can happen to you on ANY drug, just because cannabis grows in the dirt doesn't make it any different to alcohol or other drugs (opium poppies are used to make opiates, the most common hard drugs, which can get you all sorts of fucked up and potentially kill you). In moderation many drugs are fine, but the problem is that due to addiction and lack of common sense many people don't know where to draw the line. Alcohol can damage your brain over time, cause depression and of course if taken in excess, kill you. Marijuana can damage your brain, cause paranoia, awaken mental illnesses and cause people to lose motivation/become 'vegetative' in their lifestyle.

Whilst Marijuana can't kill you, it is similiar in its effects to more mind-altering drugs. Legalizing it would be the government saying its 'ok' to take such drugs and would increase the use of harder drugs with the same argument you guys are using for marijuana, that a similar drug is legal (alcohol). I'm not saying drugs are bad in general, I support responsible, moderate, educated drug use and believe they can change your perception of the world as well as provide short-term entertainment . But I can't agree with the argument that it is a perfect drug thats better or even just as good/bad as alcohol, you have to ignore all the potheads out there with no life, or the schizophrenics out there that took just one joint to end up in the asylum, for example.
