Jay Allen - Look Book

Hi All,

I've finally got my website/look book up. It isn't complete yet but will be adding content over the weekend. Clicking on the thumbnailed shirt images brings you to a detail shot.

Am interested in feedback on layout of the site. A lot of the text needs to be re-sized, and some of the images are being re-shot, but the actual layout is pretty much set.

Thanks for taking a look....all feedback welcome.

I've had enough of your shit. It's a small world......I'm very much looking forward to meeting you. I hope your daddy is with you when we finally meet.....he needs his ass kicked as well. Anyone that could spawn the likes of you must also be a fucking idiot. I'll leave your mother out of it for now.....I'm sure she needed the $20 pretty bad.

It's Johnny CUPcakes, man! Guy can't even get his baked goods straight!

Jay, think the site looks great, seems like it will be easy to use, too. The grid is a strong choice. One thing I would say, though, is that lining up all your shirts as you have makes the weaker designs stand out immediately. I edit film and have done a number of reels for other people, and it's always the case that going with the strongest work is better than going with all the work. On the flipside, having a number of strong designs grouped together--like the bottom four--makes them all look even better. Cross, Star, and Crucifix in particular for me seem to point in an interesting direction.

We now return you to our regularly scheduled hatefest.

I completely understand what you are saying. The problem is that my work seems to appeal to a couple different markets. I have been moving away from the text driven graphics lately but am talking with several retailers, wanting to place spring orders, that are drawn to the text based stuff. On the other hand I was just contacted by a large music management company (you'd recognize their artists immediately) about doing a collaborative line with them using the technique I developed for the Rising Sun, Star, and Crucifix shirts. I'm meeting with next week in NYC...we'll see what happens.

I seem to be completely unable to edit myself. I have approx 50 graphics to date....with dozens more in the incubator. I just started work on sweatshirts and an experimenting with canvas sneakers. I may post a couple images later in the week.......I need to give fogeyes something new to flame.

Thanks for your imput....I always appreciate it. Take care.
