So because our first official train mix has been a succes, I think there are more than enough people that are willing to contribute on the next one.

First off, what is a train mix? The word train-mix actually is, believe it or not, two words put together. The first one being train.

Train:

1. Railroads. a self-propelled, connected group of rolling stock.

2. a line or procession of persons, vehicles, animals, etc., traveling together.

The second one being mix.

Mix:

mix

   /mɪks/ Show [miks]

verb, mixed or mixt, mix⋅ing, noun

–verb (used with object)

1. to combine (substances, elements, things, etc.) into one mass, collection, or assemblage, generally with a thorough blending of the constituents.

2. to put together indiscriminately or confusedly (often fol. by up)

With the above being said, I think that it should be clear that all the added tracks should match the whole set.

Train mixes became popular on the Erol Alkan forums and are a good way to combine and work together in putting together a set of songs. For people with broad knowledge and distinct taste in music of course.

Could I get a full list of everyone that has worked on this one so I can credit them here? PM me with which tracks you added. All I know right now is that

kiefer first 2

yea! last 2 before keska

keska last 2

We all agreed that this one should be done with a bit more order. What I can think of now, speaking of rules that everybody can agree on, is that no one should add tracks out of turn and everybody should add and agreed upon number of tracks tracks in an agreed upon format and bitrate. I'm thinking 2 tracks in mp3 and 320kbps. We might even do a mix with just self edited/produced tracks in the near future but for now we should choose a theme and the person that wants to start the next train mix.

To sum up what I can think of right now that we should consider as possible train mix guidelines for the next mix or mixes in the future, from the future;

1. Number of tracks added by user.

2. Set tempo and build ups (for instance the first 4 tracks should be warming up tracks working their way up then 4 hype tracks and then maybe 2 slower ones).

3. Leaving 10 to 20 seconds of your added tracks 'open' for the next user to edit. With permission of the user.

4. Themes of the mixes. There are a lot of possibilities here, we could do themes based on genre of the songs, specific dates, DJs and their qualities (for instance; only DJs from France), In my opinion anything to make this a challenge.

5. A fixed order in which user is going to add the next couple of tracks and a deadline for when it should be ready.

6. A proper intro, as creative as possible. Self made or ripped from something preferably non music related that fits in the set.

Now, you can answer your questions like this;

1. 2

2. I'm thinking lets keep it simple this time, it sounds a little too intricate for this one

3. yes

4.I'm good with new electro tunes from 07 and up.

5. Royalefatale said he had some good ideas, I'd also like the honor to start this one up.

6. Agreed, you are digging a little too deep in this tho... its just a train mix

in for it again

1. 2 (or 3, i kinda got itchy to add another, but if 2 is agreed on then i'm cool with it)

2. a set tempo would be cool, i'm ok with that, +/- 5bpm

3. easily done

4. shit yeah, themed mixes for sure. only french house, only fidget. even slower tempo'd mixes. my love is a more space disco / balearic sound and i would love to contribute to an entire mix of just that.

5. a fixed order is a must. it's very aggravating when someone who is out of line posts their 2 in the middle of you working on your two. set user lineup, out of order contributions won't be added

6. a proper intro would be cool as shit. maybe that's a project in and of itself. each user who wants to make the intro gets a few seconds with it. then we just use that intro for every subsequent mix we all make here. just an idea.

Yeahhh, In for keeping this alive

1. 2

2. not feeling that

3. yes

4. I was thinking about this and think it'd be a good idea, I SO think the first theme should be halloween as well

5. yes

6. meh, could be cool but I'd just leave it to be optional probably optional

I think we could rotate the order in which people mix, so people have chances to go first/last.
