Retail architecture and interior design

nice question!

I'm sure other people will add their 2¢ - but off the topof my head, if you Google the creator's file designs for living series of books and try and get hold of them, they deal a lot with Japanese retail architecture and its designers. I'm not so much up the interweb thingummy but -www.coolhunting.com sometimes has a few pointers, too ..

This is my field so here we go....

As well as my site of course

www.interiorphotography.net

I am currently shooting the construction of the new Apple global flagship store in New York - the world's first completely glass structure.

try these links pulled from my web favorites.

Favorite of the moment is www.tropolism.com/

then in no particular order here are some general sites you can scoot around:

www.cannylink.com/architecturemagazines.htm

www.arcspace.com/

www.coroflot.com/public/magazines.asp+American+interior+design+magazines&hl=en

http://architecturalphotographers.org/index.php

http://www.idonline.com/

http://www.architectstore.com/magazine.html

http://www.archinect.com/

I personally like the work of www.hmkm.com for their variety of applications

I think www.future-systems.com make everything look like an interior from Men In Black movies (or Woody Allen's 'Sleeper').

Anyone can spend $50 million making a flagship store in NY for Prada look cool.

Trying to make dinosaur retailers such as Walmart look good deserves an award but no-one will ever give one.

One thing that always surprises me is that in 18 years of shooting retail interiors, no store has ever had dressing areas lit by the two types of light that your clothes will be seen in - one for tungsten and a space next to it with daylight balanced lighting.

favourites include

and www.hmkm.com for their variety of good work

www.future-systems.com get a lot of PR but most of their designs look like Men in Black sets (or Woody Allen's "Sleeper" sets)

here are a few random ones from my favorites list

http://www.architectstore.com/magazine.html

Best store design is in Asia (including China). New York is very disappointing considering the flagship stores and amount of money floating around. Having said that, I am just shooting the construction of the new Apple store in NY which will be the world's first completely glass building.

London still is the most respected place for Interior Designers
