Dubai shopping-other than the malls?

Hi everyone!

I'm going to Dubai soon and was interested in knowing if there are any other shopping options than the ever-present malls? I understand that they are filled with all the typical high street stores (H&M, Top Shop etc) and then the high end stuff (Dior, D&G, LV etc). And so if anyone has experience of other shops- more independent stuff- I'd be happy to get some advice!

I'd say enjoy the beach, culture, sights and generall peculiarity of the city/country. shopping there isn't much to brag about unless you're into euro fashion (d&g, armani..) or luxury labels. I guess a big mall could be worth stopping by just for fun, but I wouldn't focus much on shopping while there.
