Need a solution to cuff wear

verb

Recommended Posts

I've browsed these forums for a long time now having converted from someone who always wears $30 levis and such to more designer type labels over the past few months. I've been saving up for some Nudies but I just saw a pair of Allson's on sale that I couldn't hold back on so I picked them up for cheap. My problem is that with the new denim styles, I really enjoy the clean look unlike everyone who is itching to wear theirs in. Because of this, I'm trying to avoid any major tears or rips and with my new jeans, I'm already seeing fraying on the cuffs after one night of moderate wear.

I've included some pictures in order to show where they sit on my legs in hopes of getting some suggestions as to whether or not I need to worry about this or not. I don't mind a little bit of wear there but I hate pants that are totally wrecked on the back cuff and have tons of frayed fabric hanging off. Will my jeans reach this point or am I safe to leave them alone? If so, should I take them to a tailor, wear them higher, or try to do some basic patching?

After checking out the pics, I dunno whats up with the indentation on the left leg, it usually doesn't sit like that.

Hmm, you could wear bulkier shoes. Since Chucks are just canvas and they are narrow, I imagine the cuff can fall under the shoe.

I guess I wear sneakers with a lot of padding in the upper, so my jeans never seem to hit the ground. Even the pairs with pretty wide leg openings. Although I do have shoes with a narrow profile and that still doesn't happen to me.

I used to have that problem a long time ago. For some reason it just stopped happening. Maybe it's the shoes. Maybe I buy tighter jeans now.

Thanks guys, I'm going to leave them alone for a while and look into possibly checking out some different shoes. Sadly, I've looked all over the net/local places/NYC/Sanfran for the past five years and haven't found a single pair of shoes I liked other than chuck taylors. All of the fashionable shoes from the past few years have been narrow and reminded me of Puma Romas which I've never been fond of. We'll see.
