new years eve in california/mexico?

We are three swedes moving to San diego in december for one year. Anyone here who have any idea about the best place, restaurant or club to spend the evening? not have to be in San diego specifically but in the california area?

Mexico would be an alternative aswell, cabo san lucas/playa del carmen maybe?

lounge/electro/house music playing would be nice.

I spend some of the summer and winters between LA and SD and we have desert parties fairly frequently, sometimes with a ridiculous amount of sound for a private party. There are some pretty big raves in LA on NYE, specifically Together As One and Giant Village, both in Downtown LA. Typically the scene's pretty good if you're into that kind of thing, I guess.
