Going To Tokyo

When I went to Japan last sumemr I kind of went to all the wrong places to shop... nothing was really my style, and it was all mainstream cities that everyone goes to.

I went to Shibuya, which has a mall called 109 but is bascially exclusive to women clothing. The second 109 builing has two floors of mens clothing, though.

Harajuku... but even there, didn't find much that I liked. Main street is dominated by female clothing, again.

There's a massive mall in Ikebukoro. I only stayed there for a couple hours, and didn't get a chance to look around. The mall is massive though.

You'll find all your expensive Gucchi, Prada, etc shopping in Ginza. I didn't even bother there really.

Didn't get to go to Roppongi Hill, but I heard the mall there is nice.

These are just some ideas of the major spots... I personally didn't like most of the styles, the most popular being japanese punk clothing.

Lastly, Akihabara for electronics. Everyone says the Electronics are cheapeast there, but you don't save all that much. At least not from what I saw.

Hopefully someone else can guide you to other types of styles, since I wasn't too familiar with Japan shopping and my friends in Japan could only be considered casual shoppers.

And a side note for shopping: nightlife happens in Shinjuku.

The absolute first recommended place you should go is Kabukicho. It's considered the cultural center of Tokyo and houses numerous temples, shrines, and historical museums of the Edo period. Be sure to head to the back street at night as there are night stalls that recreate the authentic Japanese "stall-eating" experience. And don't be alarmed at the strange men in oversized Versace business suits, they are there to protect and guide foriengers since its a tourist location.

I would also recommend you inquire on "happening" bars as its the newest thing in Tokyo. It's sort of a informal get-together that the youth are doing to meet new people, sort of like speed-dating but without the formalizations and time limits. I've attended some in Roppongi and the experiences have been good.

Hope this helps! PM me if you need any more info!

I'll be heading to tokyo too 2 weeks from now, spending close to 2 weeks there. I too like to know what are some good men's clothing stores that are somewhat affordable there.

I plan on at least visiting uniqlo plus their t-shirt in a can vending machine store. I was also interested in visiting united arrows, edifice, base station, and neighorhood.

For sneakers, i plan on visiting atmos & chapters.

Anyone have any recommendations on must go to stores there?

Also, anyone recommends a good manga kissa to spend a nite at?

Well I've been to Tokyo before for the Temples, fish market, climbed mount Fuji, and all that real Japan jazz. I went to the malls and didn't find much. And you're right the electronics weren't cheaper just a little more advanced.

The reason I started this thread was because I am going back just TO SHOP and SHOP only. And visit my showroom. So I wanted to know where. I'm sure my guide who owns 4 lines will know just wanted your opinions since you guys seem to know quite a bit.

Store list?!

I'm not sure the names of 3 he has that are well established. I'll see them when I get to his showroom. We recently met at my domestic contractors office and kind of hit it off so he is going to help me with some Japanese sample development for my line. He is starting a line that is USA constructed for the Japanese market called "lil almond"

The site is www.lilalmond.com. Has some pics but def not finished.

No one asked for negative opinions. He does very VERY well and knows his customers. You're not his customer. He's not making clothes for you.

You're a douchebag. Do you know why people are answering you with jokes/insults/negativity? It's because there are more posts on this site regarding shopping in Tokyo than any other fucking topic known to man. Use the search button you turdsack. Over 3500 hits for "Tokyo Shopping". Or maybe try the sites free Maps of every shopping area in Tokyo.

I think I found a new signature.

Testing............

The base of HOODIES brought on an atmosphere with American cotton whether you seem to have totally worn two DECADES. We expressed a feeling of two kinds of two tones that it was not watched a special thread in the others by universal how to knit. Memory of the young time when we mention magnificent gentleness and was brought up of father should revive when We wear this.

its like japanese translated into english via babelfish

Your outlook on life is laughable. The only people I have ever encountered that hate on people getting shit done are those who do nothing. Do something with your time and maybe you wont have enough to search out threads that you want to bad mouth or disagree with.
