I found a Chronicles of Never ring I really like, minus the price tag. I am thinking it would be possible for me to make something of the sort of if I get a cube of brass, silver, w/e and drill and dremel it..

anyone ever do it or am i crazy?

Because I'm a DIY kind of guy..

another question, any home way to make a ring slightly bigger?

you'll need one of these; ga172b.jpg

not a dildo, it's actually a ring mandrel.

A jewelers hammer- exact type would depend on what metal you're working with, and, of course skill.

these are actually pretty cheap- 40 bucks for a good one, hammers can be expensive.

I've made many rings- In high school. It's really not as hard as you think.

Though obviously, you'll need jewelers equipment and nice equipment would be far more than the price of the ring.

He's right. If there is a University near you with a good art department they will have a jewelry class with everything you need to make your own. The cost of tuition may be expensive, but it will probably be only a 1/16th of what it would cost to buy all the necessary equipment to do it.

My high school used to let senior citizens come in after school to use the equipment- our teacher was a dick so he would yell at these old ladys trying to use the oven and whatnot.

it was really sad. :(

I am sure if you have a good high school near you with a jewelry class you could set up something- might have to have a group or something.. I donno; look into it.

If you have the welding equipment (oxy?) I'd go with making it out of something soft then making a mould impression in sand and melting the brass or silver in a crucible. Then it's just a matter of pouring, getting third degree burns, and cleaning up / polishing with the dremel.

Disclaimer: I've never done this before, and you'd have to be nuts to try it, but that's what I'd do, and probably lose an eye in the process.

If you do go the waste removal method with a cheaper type of metal (ie, carving away material from a block or billet), its not too hard. Try an aluminium cube first as it will be the easiest to work with.

All you really need is a pedestal drill (drill press) to drill the correct size hole for your finger, then slice the material down with a hacksaw or bandsaw. The following stage is all about dremelling/ polishing/ finishing and will require patience!

Good luck!

I have an uncle from the PI who claims he made a ring out of a US nickel. Just punched a hole through it and kept going, I guess. Couldn't see any marking of the nickel for verification, though.
