im assuming there are plenty of outdoor activity enjoying people on here. Hiking? Climbing? If so, where are some great spots in your neck of the woods for some great hikes?

Washington:

- handfull of passes near Mt Stewert

- one of my favorite trailheads, Snow Lake trailhead, amazing.

9w bike ride in NJ, take it all the way to Nyack, NY. A sweet ride from the GW bridge. Also, if you head upstate NY, you can check out 7 lakes. Tons of trails to hike, nice place to ride as well. Lovely for a Sat afternoon.

I live north of Toronto so I've got a ton of stuff to do up here ..

Summer

- Hiking, Bruce Trail runs from Niagra to Tobermory and has some good spots in my area

- Canoeing, both on Georgian Bay and on a few rivers, tons of wildlife

- Climbing, which I do a ton of, pick up a guide at MEC for good spots

- Boating

- Mountain Biking - Cross-Country and Downhill

- Swimming/Snorkling, which I was doing the other day, checking out a shipwreck that's about 3 kms out

Winter

- Skiing/Snowboarding at public and private hills

- Hockey? ahah I can't think of any other winter sports

any seattle people here do any leisurly bike rides? Burke Gillman trail from Woodinville to Udistrict?

I remember my dad used to ride the burke-gillman to work back in the day. It also is home to the wall of death!!

For outdoorsy things, I go camping up past Granite Falls somewhere on the Mt. Loop highway every so often. Don't do much hiking, but I would like to!

In Mendocino at the Angelo wildlife preserve, looking for reptiles and amphibians with the herpetology class.

In Southern Humboldt tagging ratlesnakes

Crab fishing in Trinidad (the town, not the island)

Hiking in the Bald Hills to collect chanterelle, hedgehog, and black trumpet mushrooms

I do not yet have any hiking boots

We saw elk on our way, they stand about 6 feet at the shoulder!

Going to Luffenholtz beach

Where the tide stranded us on a rock for a few minutes...

You cant tell, but this was about 50 feet up, and much bigger than you would think. Poseidon was angry yesterday...

Definitly worth resurrecting but I suspect everyone might just end up talking about LL Bean boots like every other thread

The first ones are in Mendocino county, north of the Bay Area by about a couple hours, and the rest starting with the crabbing are in Humboldt County, 5 hours north of San Francisco.
