The Jean Shop, NYC

Just their own stuff, but it's very very nice. Classic cut dry selvage denim dyed with (I was told) veggie indigo for ~$270. They'll also do custom washes although this drives the prices up. They do some other great basics like hoodies and tees. They had a kind of cowboy thing going on when I was last there (last fall) so not sure if the jeans repro Levi's or Wrangler. (The latter would be a nice change).

I was there a month ago. Not sure about the veggie indigo. The price is about right. They had dry, one wash, almost every level of distressing, and dyed rinsing. They have an orange kind of rinse that looked interesting. Also had a very nice Type III style denim jacket. Not a repro, there were pockets, and it had only orange stiching. I bought a no-frills thick leather belt from them. Like Yakboy said, they had cowboy esque complimentary accessories and clothing including several thick leather jackets. Nice staff too. No plans for an internet site, and they stopped some guy from taking pics inside the store when I was there. Also had selvage denim for kids too! Not sure if the jeans were repro, but I do not think they were. I didn't try them on, but they looked like a classic 5 pocket jean though.

I was there recently too. Apparently they do both washing and distressing (rips etc). No, the washing does not drive the price up. They'll wash it to whatever specification you give them at no extra cost. If you want rips, abrasions, alterations etc then it will cost you.
