washing jeans before first wear?

greetings everyone!

i need bit of an advice here..

i have recently bought a pair of Earnest Sewn and Jean Paul Da'mage jeans..

and since they're new they're kinda edgy in places and don't really fit right, so i thought of possibly ironing them very carefully with some cloth on top or washing them

furthermore, earnest sewn in 32 waist turned out to be bit bigger than i expected

i'am wondering if washing will do the trick? especially if earnest sewn will shrink in waist, but i'am afraid they might shrink in length also which is aint good at all for me...

would appreciate any suggestions on this, thanks in advance.

distressed jeans don't shrink, they have already been through industrial laundry. if you wash those jeans you may lose some of the distressed efects that are the reason you bought the jeans. also, a washing machine may da'mage the jeans.....Hee Hee

wasn't really aiming to put them into washing machine, even that washing instruction on Da'Mage ones says to do machine wash..

any tips on making them fit right when they're new, after they were packed up for a while?

well i doubt one machine wash will do much to the fade, especially if you machine wash cold with no soap - with your jeans inside out. but other than that - you could steam them. Know anyone that has access to a clothing steamer? a friend in retail maybe? dry cleaner/tailor perhaps?

There is very little that you can do about the waist situation, because as you wear the jeans the waist will stretch out and when washed will only retract to its original size. You can always have the waist altered, though. Just make sure that they take the jeans in on both sides, beneath the belt loops, and not on the center seam (this method is virtually invisible). There is always a possibility that the jeans will shrink in length, even with the indutrial washing process, so just wash them cold, inside out and hang dry.

Quality over quantity
