Designer of the Week 5/26: Raf Simons

According to his bio on his official website, he was born in Neerpelt, which makes it a Flemish Region (Dutch speaking region). So his name must be Dutch, although I have no idea how his name is pronounced with this bit of new info.

I always pronounced him like Ralf Simmons without the L. Is this correct?

true, didn't remember the city he was born in and was too lazy to check

in that case its pronounced pretty straight forward as you mentioned. a dutch speaking person would of course probably accentuate it a bit differently but anyways, close enough.

as a designer ive always respected him and i love some of his more basic pieces, and some of the jil stuff...but i get turned off by the whole zippered hoods that inflate into white water rafts and boots that will shoot you to the moon look...i think he reflects youth culture in a much slyer way than like hedi or anyone else ever did though.
