New Art Brut record

So I see the new Art Brut album is on the internet. Is this the final version? It sounds pretty good at first listen. Not as much fun as the first one, but good nonetheless.

Hmm,

almost done with listening to it, and I agree, it's not as much fun. The thing I don't like about this album as much as the older one, is that it's not as rough. Like, in a way, it became more melodic and lost some of its charm.

It might grow on me though.

Have only heard just a couple tracks from the new record, but it sounds like they got a knownothing producer, masterer, endman on board... that is what is killing all of these hipster "indie" bands; their sophomore records don't sound as raw and explosive as their debut(s) and just don't deliver. I don't know why they (label, producer, bands themselfs, ect) don't understand that when it comes to these kind of bands good production= underproduction.

It's definitely not just the production though, I just think Art Brut mellowed its sound slightly for the second album. Nothing even close to rocking as hard as say, 'Formed a Band'.

I guess I'll enjoy listening to it, but kinda wish they improved a bit more on their older sound rather than mellowing out.

Thanks for the heads up. I saw them in London last year. The lead singer was so pissed he forgot whole verses. Good fun gig so I hope they haven't lost too much edge.

Isn't the lead singer the only original band member left from the first album (I think he sacked the rest)? Could explain the shift in sound?

Art Brut played at my uni's student union a little while ago, I got too drunk to go see them, but apparently they did a good set. I didn't know they were so popular

Hm? They've only changed one member so far, and that was quite some time ago. Saw 'em last year at the Bowery, but missed them this year.
