for those who havent heard of him Darren Brown is an amazing expert in things such as NLP and hypnosis, and he's done some crazy experiments to disprove phychics and other "super-natural" phenomenon

I own all his books/dvds, and the NLP/suggestion/techniques he employs usually require a very controlled environment to work. Some simply do not work on people who are not susceptible to suggestion.

His card tricks are usually his take on old tricks.

Yeah the article actually mentioned he had proved that in an earlier episode.

But if that aspect of the illusion was fake, do you think they would have done everything else for real, knowing that blanks could kill him?

He is a magician... he tricks you into believing what he is doing is real, this isnt meant to be a neggative comment at him, he, like heaps of magicians, provides entertainment.

I think he says it best when he says

"It probably sounds odd. But as a magic-related performer to have that even being asked: Was it real? Was it not real? That lifts it to a level that I'm very comfortable with. What's left is the fact that it was a terrific piece of television."
