So I'm moving soon and was thinking of new ways to outfit my new place in a style that represents me and my mind automatically went to the amazing album covers that Blue Note Jazz used. I have always admired them and thought that other then great music, they stand alone as art and excellent photography. I did a search for blue note album cover art but all that ever comes up is coffee table picture books. I was wondering if anyone knew where I could purchase prints of Blue Note album covers? Or would it be better just to seek out the actual LPs and have them framed? Has anyone here used album covers as decrative art? LMK what you guys think....

Btw here are some of my favorites...

Great choices, Sub. I agree on the designs. Great, bold designs, usually with some great use of negative space. You could definitely seek out the LPs and frame them and hang them normally, or make if you coudl make a large 3x3 "panel" of using 9 of your favorites.

I don't know where to get prints of the album covers, but if you've got $$$ to burn on this you could seek out some Herman Leonard prints. He has some amazing stuff on his site: http://www.hermanleonard.com/

The Rock Archive (http://www.rockarchive.com) also has photo prints of mostly rock musicians with some jazz icons in there (Miles...)

Those Herman Leonard prints are way out of my leauge Im sure, even though no prices are listed. Excellent stuff none the less. Yeah, i think Im just going to purchase the album covers and make the large 3x3 panel. But first I have to decide which ones I want to get, which is the hard part. I'll keep you guys updated on it and take pics of the final product eventually.

What's going on Superfuture jazz heads? Been listening to Marion McPartland's interview with Bill Evans... It's out of this world. Blows my face off.

I saw her in concert about 5 years ago. Hope she gets a Kennedy Center honor award. She's getting up in the years now.
