a couple of alteration/tailoring questions...

i have a nylon jacket, and i want to shorten the sleeves. there are zippers on them, though.

also, i'm getting a small rip in some jeans fixed-- should i ask for patch or sew?

I have lots of exp. with tailors but I can't answer your questions. My advice is to take the garment to a few places and see who you like the best, some tailors are way too bossy (like you ask them to do something and they say they'll do it differently or will refuse to do it), some tailors are super cheap (like you ask them to do something and they keep bringing up prices and the time it'll take them and why it'll be mad expensive for you until you are like, okay I fuckin get it, it'll cost money), and some are downright mean (like you ask them if something can be done and they straight up say NO, with minimal, if any explanation).

You have to find someone who's willing to work on your shit but will tell you when something you are looking to do is stupid and will ruin your clothes. I hope this helps, it really is a between you and the tailor thing so your time is probably better spent seeking out tailors in person instead of asking people on the internet (although I was guilty of that in the past myself). best

as mentioned you can take them up from the shoulder seam or, if you want to, you can make the lower sleeve / hem just a bit slimmer so it will stack nicely above your wrist.
