california trip - august

i havent really been to west coast before and im planning to go by myself in august...

i currently live on east coast and id like to pick up some gear I can't really find here

i have two options in my mind:

1) visit USC (im thinking of going to med. school there) and shop in LA.

is USC close to la brea and west hollywood at all? in which hotel should i stay?

i want to check out undefeated, union and etc...

2) go to SF and do some touristy stuff + shop. what are good stores to visit here?

i dont think ill rent a car unless i absolutely have to.

You gotta rent a car on the westside Duke...

You can knock out shopping in both L.A. & S.F. in a day each.

I'd stay in L.A. right on the sunset strip if I were you (gotta do it once... maybe

The Argyle, Grafton, Mondrian, Standard, tons of spots, etc.?) There's a cheese factor in that

area but it'd be cool & it's a central location... Go to expedia.com & search West

Hollywood for options. Its about 15-20 mins from SC with no traffic.

You could always stay downtown at the Standard 7 be closer to SC but it's pretty dead that

way in the evening...

Depending on how much time you have I'd for sure drive. Get a rental w/unlimited miles

& do the dag-gone thing!
