Levis LVC Deadstock

I bought some levis 1947 repros understanding that they were made in the original SF mill. However the number inside the top button reads 554 and i was informed these were made elsewhere. my question is, if this is the case, where were they made, and does this mean they are lower quality or a knockoff?

thanks.

All the 554 jeans I have seen were made in 2003 after Levi's sold the valencia street factory. They are pretty much the same. The 554 1944 levis s501xx I used to have had the leg seam with 2 lines of double stitching instead of one of single and one of double which is more correct. I have also had some 555 jeans of the same model, and that was the only real difference. 554's were actually made at a Levi owned factory, which is not the case with current production items.
