I just read this great story about the French Company (http://www.frenchluggage.com) and their ties with Louis Vuitton. Does anybody have any vintage American Louis Vuitton bags made by French Co.? What do you think about them? Better then the new Louis Vuitton stuff out nowadays?

I read the story here: http://reviews.ebay.com/Vintage-LOUIS-VUITTON-The-French-Luggage-Company-Part-1_W0QQugidZ10000000000736209

Dissapoinltly, the French Luggage website doesn't have anything about the Louis Vuitton collab (probably due to copyright shit). Could this be considered histories first collab? haha

I work at a luggage store in Beverly Hills, and while I don't have any of this stuff, my store does sell French luggage and repair LV and French stuff, so I've seen a lot of it. Anything made by the French Company, LV or otherwise is really well made. Really though, any vintage LV (Made by French or otherwise) is better made than most of the things they make today. New bags are always getting repaired for minor stuff, while old bags usually come in with stories like "We just took this around the world a few times, we've owned it for 30 years, and it needs a new handle." Old LVs really are great bags. I've got one that I think it's 30-40 years old and it's fabulous.

If you have any weird questions or anything, I'll do my best to answer them or ask around at work next time I'm in.

Thanks for the heads up Dokyboy, if I have any questions I'll defitneley post it here first.

I think I'm going to try to get my hands on a Louis Vuitton X French bag from the 70's on Ebay - what store do you work at? I might need some repairs!

Beverly Hills Luggage, on Beverly Dr just south of Santa Monica Blvd. If you're bidding on a bag that might need some work, show me the auction and I can let you know if the repairs are worth the trouble.

Louis Vuitton was really known for quality goods and the French Company goods while American-made, were as well-made as their French relations.

I've noticed that Vuitton things were well-made into the early '90s and then it suddenly became popular, like some cheapening effect.

If anybody cares, I just noted on the French Luggage site that they are having a pretty good 40% off sale on some of their patterns.

Two out of the three patterns suck balls, but their black shadow pattern is sick. Check out this black shadow shoe case:

Black Shadown is definitely my favorite of their patterns. Grey rose just reminds me of the matched luggage from Spaceballs.
