I'm looking for denim mills that aren't based in china (preferably Europe/US) and that could possibly handle producing selvedge with yarn I supply... I would be extremelygrateful for any contacts or information

there're lists of mills there, but as for producing denim with yarn you're supplying, i'm not sure.

you might want to contact kiya who runs self edge, a denim boutique in SF, and who might be able to get you in touch with japanese makers/mills. also, look for ilovespaz who is doing sling & stones jeans. there's a website link somewhere, and possibly contact details. let me look...

Does anyone know what looms are used for Selvedge denim production?

i believe a good number of shuttle looms in use today are made by toyoda?

a rumour about vintage cone mills looms running amok in japan existed for awhile, but i think that bit of mythology was put to rest by a variety of people.
