Levis 501xx 1890

I really like the back pocket arcurate and rivets on this model and simialr cinchback models. HOWEVER a serious drawback is the suspender button things that run along the wasitband. My query is:

1) can these buttons be removed and be repaired (say with rivets) but keeping the jean strong?

2) Is there a levis model with similar back pocket arcurate and rivets that doesnt have these suspender buttons and is selvage?

Not really an answer to your questions but anyway, what's there not to like about the suspender buttons. I've got almost the same pair and the suspender buttons are one of my favorite features, it gives the waist of these jeans a totally different apearance from other jeans.

Also I think if you would take them off it might look a bit weird/empty, since there are no beltloops. I think replacing the buttons with rivets would look silly since the rivets would be totally out of place. I also don't really think it could be done since the holes from taking off the buttons would be too big.

I'd say leave these overalls as they are!

Maybe you should look into some early 1900 models, they'll also have the buttons but some of them have beltloops aswell so taking the buttons off wouldn't make them look so empty.
