I'm looking for nice designer jeans, cool T-Shirts and shirts as well, I am somewhat of a brandgay so Gucci, D&G, HUGO BOSS, GUCCI; FENDI, PRADA etc is welcome, but don't exclude all the other good shops please!

Thanks in advance guys and girls!

yeah hideout IS the shit,

all those designer jump offs, look at their websites, find their store in London, and all that type of crap will most likely be right around it.

Selfridges is cool, especially the basement... and the other one over there, no, not Harrods, the other one Harvey Nics

Soho and Covent Garden for streetwear and sneakers

pick up a lonely planet, and a time out and u are good to go

As azymuth said..covent Garden is you best bet for streetwear / kicks.

Selfridges covers most bases in that it has a lot of streetwear but also carries the labels you have mentioned. Harrods is a waste of time.

Hideout & Bape are next door to each other on Upper West James St which is at the end of Carnaby St (not too far from Selfridges).

I've got a site with good London maps like the ones on this site...I'll post it when I get home from work.

"pick up a lonely planet, and a time out and u are good to go"

What does this mean? =)

I thought Harrods was a place for old people icon_smile_shock.gif Now I know to go there, the thing is, I have never been out of Sweden only for shopping, just holidays and stuff, this is my forst Shopping Weekend, it should be fun, I've lost weight and feel fresher than ever as well =)

The stuff I am looking for is nice, young, cool, colorful clothes, desginer jeans and nice sneakers/shoes, preferably from the top designers in the world (Yes, I know I'm a showoff, why else would I buy a Jacob&Co watch=)

I was debating to go to Rome, Paris or London with my girlfriend, the selction now went down to London since the travel distance is shorter, the GBP is cheaper for me than the EURO and the language is tons easier, so far so good? Any suggestions on that?

Thanks for reading my rubbish!

For the kind of brands you mention then Harrods and Harvery Nicols (both in Knightsbridge) are very good options, and Selfridges on Oxford Street (one of the all round best clothes shops in London) too.

If you are looking for the more 'street' style brands i.e. Bathing Ape, Supreme, Stussy, Neighborhood etc. etc. then the whole Covent Garden/Carnaby Sreet area is best. It is around Crnaby Street where you will find stores like Bond International, Concrete, Michiko Koshino, Cinch, Hideout (Upper James Street) and Bathing Ape (Upper James Street).

Alternatively, just head to Bond Street where all the designer emporiums are i.e Gucci, Chanel etc.

I hope that helps.

Nice answers guys, please keep them comming =)

No "street wear" for me, we don't have that in Sweden, if you go around looking like that people will point a finger at you screaming; "Skater, hip hop gnagster etc" =(

Selfridges and Harrods sound perfect for me, but I can't think there isn't any more shops like this? It is London after all =) More please :)

Thanks!

The best way to enjoy London is to go with the flow. Get a good (free) Tube map, a three day Travel Card, and let your senses guide you! I would start from Picadilly Circus and explore the Regent/Oxford area before venturing somewhere else. Nine times out of ten you will probably spend all your money in these two areas.

Killer tips and pointers man, thank you very much! Is this Hotell you mentioned far away from lets say, Selfridges and Harrods and other cool shops? I don't like the idea of using the subway, my feet will do just fine =)

Btw, how is Selfridges and Harrods in the pricing range? Are they more or less expensive than the average famous designer brand shops?

Thanks again!

The hotel is about 5 mins walk from either Pimlico or Westminster tube station, to be honest London is so big that you're gonna have to use the tube, it's cheap and easy to use so it's pointless not to.

It'll take 10 mins on the tube to get to Oxford St (Selfridges) tops, again it is walkable if you want to see the sights etc but it will take you some time and you'll have more chance of getting lost.

If you are desperate to get near to Oxford St I think Holiday Inn have a hotel that is joined onto the same building as selfridges at Marble Arch.

The City Inn is by far the coolest hotel I have stayed in in London, It's right next to the Tate gallery just to give you an idea of where it is, next to the Thames and the London Eye.

Harrods is a waste of time in my opinion, I would agree with your idea that it's for 'old folk', still if you are interested i'd go and have a look.

Pricing in Selfridges is slightly more expensive in comparison to other shops eg. I bought a MHI tshirt in Urban Outfitters at £30 and it was like £36 in Selfridges, not sure how it compares to the brands you have mentioned as I dont shop there.

If you need any more info just shout.

AlanT,

Thanks for the excellent reply! =)

It sounds like I'm going to have to take the sub after all, no big deal, it's just that I've heard people say its the most dangerous place to be in London...? Also, I don't want to end up in the wrong neighbourhood with my girlfriend, big cities usually means big trouble right?

Anyways, Selfridges seem to be the place for me, any other places just like it? In the near by area?

Thanks!

So, no need to worry about ending up in the wrong places?

Will check out the link you posted as well, thanks! icon_smile.gif

Dont worry about the centre of London in general, you'll need to do some serious travelling to turn up in a really rough area.

The tube is split into zones, I assume you'll be flying into Heathrow or Gatwick...

Heathrow is zone 6 and has a tube link straight into the city, you'll probably not leave zone 1 until you leave to go home !

Travel details can be found at http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tube/

I must admit traveling to a new place for the first time is daunting...Ive been to NY a few times and went to Brooklyn for the first the last time I was there.

I think NY is safer now that it has ever been but being from the UK you still get the impression that it is a bad area as all you ever hear about is the bad stuff that goes on.

(Even though I live in Glasgow which I think has a higher murder rate per population )icon_smile_angry.gif

I ended up a few stops after Fulton St where I was supposed to get off the subway...I think it's just the fact of being somewhere you dont know, or ever intended to be that scares people !

In general you'll have nothing to worry about so take it easy and have a good time icon_smile_cool.gif

AlanT,

Wow, your replies make me feel much safer =) Yeah, it is true, you always hear about the bad stuff, hell, watching my two all time favourite movies Snatch and Lock Stock makes you think London is packed with Bullet Tooth Tonys =)

Thanks again!

Will be fun to shop around, no one wants to meet up? Or at least give me some good old insider info?
