Longboard beginner

Hello there,

My birthday is approaching and I've been wanting a longboard for some time now but am having a hard time deciding what board to get. I've heard Gravity makes decent boards. Anyone have recommendations? Any links would be greatly appreciated.

For your first board, I would have to recommend the Landyachtz Haida Pintail deck. The deck is really sweet, built with camber and birch construction giving the board some "pop" which is really nice for cruising and carving. It's pretty decent for bombing hills too.

You should also choose wisely when mating your deck with a set of trucks. As far as longboarding goes, Randals 150cm and 180cm are pretty much the generic choices, and for good reason; they turn well and are more than suitable for bombing hills. I've also been reading about Crails, though I've not had the opportunity to ride them, have been getting rave reviews on various forums, so you might want to check those out as well.

Finally, get yourself some decent wheels (at this stage, softer is better) and bearings (dont buy into the ABEC-rating hype). Recommendations:

Wheels: abec-11 Flywheels or Grippins or Flashbacks

Bearings: Bones Reds, Ninja, Rock'n'Rons
