check out http://www.tokyo.to/links/Section/Accomodation.html for links and info. during my last trip I stayed at Sun Hotel Kanda which is next to Ochanomizu and Akihabara. it's a hop skip and a jump to Harajuku and Shibuya, assuming of course you know how to use the trains. Hotel Kanda has raised their rates a little in the past 2 years but it's still pretty decent for the location.
