FS: Carol Christian Poell blazer - Size 46 - cheap

Up for grabs is a 2008 Carol Christian Poell blazer featuring the infamous invism-seam construction. This special sewing technique is the most expensive sewing technique CCP offered (not sure if invism seam pieces are still produced nowadays).

 

Not sure how to describe this technique as I am not a tailor: the individual garment sections are not overlapping at the ends and then sewn together, but placed next to each other and then sewn together in a way that the seam is “invisible†and actually opens/closes with the movement of the wearer. The "slits" and white "stripes" you see in some of the pics are actually the effect of the invism seams to "open up". The white stripes are the inner lining of the jacket showing through the slits. Depending on how you move, the slits open up to a maximum of 5mm I would say - if the specific area is not flexed anymore, the slits disappear again. A truly mind-blowing construction technique. The brown stripes you see in one picture are actually tape seams that are used inside the jacket to reinforce the stitching - of course those stripes are not visible on the outside. 

 

More technicalities: Male Spring 2008, 60% cotton, 40% ramie, unlined, color 11 which is a light black/brown.

 

The blazer fits a size 46 spot on (tight) with the typical CCP fit featuring very high and tight armholes.

 

The blazer has been worn extensively initially, but has been sitting in my closet unworn for at least 3 years. Consequently, the blazer shows signs of wear. Especially, the armpits are constructed in a way that they have slits around the lower armpit – the fabric has torn around the end of these slits and have been sewn together again – I tried to capture this in one of the pictures.

 

This blazer has travelled around three continents with me and I don’t have the tags or the typical rice bag anymore. You will get a CCP hanger though if you want it.

 

All in all, I would rate the condition 6/10 – this is also reflected in my pricing:
