There are hundreds of decent bookshops in London, catering to all sorts of taste and belief. These are straight off my bookmarks.

For me the undisputed king of London bookstores is Foyles, http://www.foyles.co.uk.

The original is one of the stores on Charing Cross road that Cue mentioned. I think they've also got a branch on the South Bank.
