Palm Springs, where to stay?

Ok, so we're heading out for Palm Springs for some serious architecture spotting. I would like to stay at a cool, nice hotel. Preferably well designed, could be retro or more modern. Doesn't have to be luxurious but budget is not an issue really.

Any tips?

I made some research and found a couple of interesting hotels, appreciate if anyone has any intel:

Horizon designed by William F. Cody in 1952 looks crisp 50's style but unfortunately for me they don't accept kids.

Del Marcos Hotel also by William F. Cody, his first project in Palm Springs 1947. Going all out retro.

Orbit-In originally by Herb Burns and restored in the late 90's. Looks like they did a good job.

Movie Colony Hotel designed by Swiss architect Albert Frey in 1935. More Art Deco than Desert Modernism but still looks awesome.

Anyone been near any of these?
