  1. Today
  2. In this picture are about 160. The total was closer to 350.
  3. I haven’t posted many garden updates through the summer, because the lighting’s really tough to get right for photos, but that’s still where the jeans have been getting a good chunk of their wear Sunflowers came & went: (Okay, wasn’t wearing the jeans for that last photo, but they were there for the gardening) Winter squashes are getting ready, now, to pop up in the sunflowers’ place—but the few we sowed on the other side of the yard already have a strong head start. The longest vines are gaining close to a foot each day! Sunday, 7 pm: This morning, 7 am: This evening, 7 pm: Echinacea (bought pre-started) is doing great, & so’s the creeping ficus that had to start over this spring after I tore down the last decade’s growth …bench corner now also featuring yellow mallow + more potted pansies, and hopefully some cup-and-saucer flowers to be popping up some time next week in the other pot to the right Exciting things are starting to happen in the raised bed and in the little herb garden: more to come!
  4. We took our little one to the Michigan Renaissance Faire over the holiday weekend. Both denims are really starting to crinkle even more so after the follow-up wash to get off all the dust. Ebbets/Denime/Whitesville/Rockets/Alden
  5. Yesterday
  6. Felled seams. Here is a shot of my 1880s waist overalls
  7. @Double 0 Soul most of those were my roommate’s, she is staying in that apartment… she had already decorated the whole place wall to wall when I moved in so I didn’t have much space for any of my own things, now that I have my own place again it feels a lot more comfortable, even if a bit less green!
  8. Nice - glad to know they tuned into those details when making them. I thought they were starting to fall apart!
  9. That’s period correct, they didn’t use overlock stitching back then.
  10. Also, what's up with the inside stitching of my 1890? Were 19th century denim made with all these loose threads? It's like this near the button fly, down the legs, and in the pockets.
  11. It's been about 5 weeks since my last update. Despite the hot weather I've managed to wear these most days. Overcast outside today so a pretty true representation of the progress, I'd say. First repair happened a couple of weeks back. An inch and a half of hand stitching on the crotch seam. Likely I could have done a neater job had I not lacked the self discipline to remove my bifocals, and break my focus from reruns of Dickenson's Real Deal.
  12. Inspired by @chicote's recent WAYWT pic, I looked into vintage Gant shirts. Apparently in the 60s for some time they were the world second largest producer of shirts. I saw these details of their shirts on one vintage packaging. Sensible high quality points.
  13. Here's a video from a couple months ago where he wears them: He fills out the jeans and jacket pretty good, leading to the nice whiskering of his pair. Ever since I started wearing straight fit jeans, pretty much all of my pairs have a very relaxed fit in the top block, since for my waist size of 31-32 I have skinny thighs and a not-large rear end. Still, I quite like my fit, which is very comfortable and similar to how early 40s jeans were worn in photos from the period by Russell Lee, etc.
  14. Just got the 54s back from hemming. Feels pretty good.
  15. Nice video. Would have been even better to see how the tux would have looked worn by him and whether the fit is wider or tighter.
  16. @bod good choice! They run smaller than older Denime (IMO) but fingers crossed they will fit!
  17. Came across this channel of a Japanese gentleman wearing the Late S40s tux, some serious fade inspiration here. He said that he washed for the first time around five months of wear, then about twice a month after that, currently around 10 months of wear. To me, this kind of fade is pretty much ideal. But since my jeans and jacket fit me more loosely, I doubt mine will look this dramatic even if I had the same wash routine.
  18. Found some more shots of my boots with only a few months wear. A year to the day.
  19. Good stuff bF, just bought a pair of 30th XX, just hope they fit when they arrive
  20. There should be a smaller one in front (or an even bigger one behind),like Russian dolls 🪆
  21. What happens with all your lovely house plants @chicote Do they make the move with you like Léon or do you take a select few and donate the rest?
  22. Thanks all. Feels like they’ve just started showing some color over the last month or two, and I’m happy with how they’re going. I’ve slowed down enough on the Word of Mouth contest to be pretty consistently wearing these around twice a week, at this point, so I’m hopeful that there’ll be more real progress to show in the next half year
  23. With regards to sizing, you are totally right @chicote. All cars are getting bigger. Glad you use yours as intended, but I bet you get asked all the time to "help with moving?" 😂 (ask me how I know) Minitruckin' is more of a style and less about the actual size. Semantics. It's about chopping, shaving, bagging, dropping, and scraping. You could bag an F350 or a HumVee, and it would still be considered a "minitruck."
  24. I just moved apartments and had a guy in an 8 foot tall Silverado gawking at me as i drove to my new place with my stuff packed like this in my bed … hey at least my truck can carry more than groceries!!! edit: also as to why they’re called “mini” trucks (not my photo but i have had dozens of experiences like this, esp in the Home Depot parking lot lol) .. this is a late 90s/early 00s Toyota pickup vs a 2020s f150. Notice the bed sizes are exactly the same length!
  25. What colour were they, what were the temperature settings and spin speeds and how many were in each shop? Did you have to put coins in to make them work or did they override that function? 😂
