bleaching denim to get white jeans

Hello everyone. I have a question. I was thinking of doing the same to a pair of black jeans, to try to get them grey. Will bleaching them have the same affect on a pair of black jeans? Will they turn grey or a brownish color?

Why not instead try washing it multiple times in TIDE. Erik's mom used to use it, before they learned of woolite dark, and all his formerly black shirts turned gray in a matter of a few washings. I don't know how light of gray you would get, but that seems more gentle than trying to bleach them gray.
