if you are still into slim but straight fitting jeans, I would suggest SS DS. I removed back pocket stitching on mine yesterday and they look just amazing. You can go with APC Rescues as well but Nudie's dry selvage denim is of better quality IMO

Are the SS as slim fitting at the Californias? I'm not sure if the JRs were so tight in the thigh because they were too tight in the waist or just because they are really small in the thigh. I guess it was either one or both.

If they're too tight in the waist, you could wear them for a few days and they'll stretch. When I got mine I could barely button them, but they've stretched to a perfect fit now.

no, SS are straight and should not be tight if you get them true to your size. Nudies tend to run true to size in general. My advise is that if you are athletic build and have some muscles in your legs and shoulders wider than butt, then skinny-tight jeans is a no-no and I'd go no tighter than APC new standards. JR Calis look great on skinny guys.
