Looking for: Art that expresses suffering/sadness

Ok, i' so lost i cant help the right words to phrase the sentence buy yea, i'm actualy doing so research on fine arts kind of works and paintings by any artist honestly that has a sense of sadness, misery, agony and pain. renaissance art, victorian era to even modern works is fine, not too fuss over this.

i'm just asking the board to try my luck so yeah let me know if u have any in mind?

how aout any picture of a martyr or jesus nailed to the cross, that enough suffering? this should be a easy enough theme to find in the fine arts.
