cobbler?

sorry for making new thread, but nothing is small questions gets good answers

does anyone know of a good, reputable cobbler in the nyc area? i want to get a rubber heel put into my ricks, but the procedure (cutting off the original sole) makes me want to have a trusted cobbler as opposed to a random local shoe repairman

Sphoxx from SZ told me this (the guy he went to when he got his rick high tops soled as shown in pictures):

"Oh, I'm in NYC too. Go to the Firm Shoe Repair on 4th ave and 12th st, ask for Alex and show him the pic. He'll do it no problem."

Just went to Firm today, since my ricks are fairly new (heel still intact & not worn down) I had them add a thin tough rubber layer to the whole sole (cost fuckin $48)

we'll see how it comes out. The good part is that if it's not good-looking I can just rip it out

as the guy and me were talking he grapped another pair of ricks from behind the counter to show me something, made me laugh
