Domestic starch come in 3 versions:

1. Powder (basically corn starch plus anti caking agents) - dilute around 5 big spoonfulls in a cup of warm water and add it to the sink/bath/washing machine or whatever you're soaking your jeans in. Basically the same process as commercial laundries would use to do table napkins.

2. Spray - spray on and leave to dry (you can also iron it dry, but be careful not to burn the starch). Repeat applications for more stiffness.

3. Liquid starch - dilute before use. Either apply it with a brush or cloth or add it to the water your jeans are soaking in.
